Roofers in Nuneaton
A roof rarely fails across the middle. It fails at a flashing, a valley, a ridge or a chimney, and finding which is the difference between a morning's work and a new roof you did not need.

Pitched and flat roofing in Nuneaton and neighbouring Hinckley, Kenilworth and Rugby. Leak tracing, tile and slate repair, ridge and verge renewal, chimney leadwork, guttering, and full re-roofs. Most of what we are called to is repairable; where it is not, we will say so and explain why rather than quoting for a repair that will fail.
Working in Nuneaton
Nuneaton lies 8.1 miles north of Coventry city centre, in the CV11 postcode district.
Within walking distance you will find Asda and Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, and we work on properties throughout the streets around them.
The nearest places we also cover are Hinckley (4.2 miles) and Kenilworth (13.2 miles), so work in Nuneaton sits well inside the area we travel to, not at the edge of it.

- Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church
- St Thomas More Catholic Academy and Sixth Form College
- Jubilee Park
- A roof with no breathable membrane and blocked eaves will condense whatever the covering is.
- Water standing on a flat roof two days after rain means the fall is wrong, not the covering.
- Most leaks are at a junction — flashing, valley, ridge or chimney — not in the open field of the roof.
- Damp below a flat roof is often condensation inside a cold deck rather than a leak.
- Scaffold is a real share of any roofing cost, which is why doing the guttering at the same time is cheaper.
The work itself, in plain terms
The roofing work we carry out on Nuneaton properties, from leak tracing and tile repairs to complete re-roofing.
Roof repairs
Leak tracing, slipped and cracked tiles, flashings and valleys, with most repairs completed in a day once the cause is found.
Re-roofing
Strip, structural check, breathable membrane, new battens and covering in slate or tile, with the eaves detail put right at the same time.
Flat roofing
EPDM, GRP and torch-on felt on extensions, garages and dormers, with the deck inspected and the falls corrected rather than covered over.
Chimneys & leadwork
Repointing, flaunching, lead flashings and trays, capping and removal. The usual cause of damp on a chimney breast.
Roofline & guttering
Fascias, soffits and guttering, sized for the roof area and fixed into sound rafter ends rather than capped over soft timber.
Emergency work
Storm damage made safe and watertight quickly, with the permanent repair priced separately once it can be assessed properly.
Built around how you own the property
Homeowners
A fixed price agreed before anything starts, and scaffold planned around your access.
Landlords
Durable detailing chosen to reduce the number of return visits.
Older properties
Period roofs where matching the existing covering matters as much as the repair.
The jobs that start with a phone call
- 01
A chimney repointed while the lead flashing underneath was left as it was.
- 02
A roof quoted from the ground, with no one having seen the battens or the membrane.
- 03
A ceiling stain that three people have looked at, where nobody has traced the water back to the junction it is entering.
- 04
Storm damage made safe months ago and never permanently repaired.
- 05
Damp in a loft blamed on the roof when the eaves ventilation was insulated over.
- 06
A repair quoted as a full re-roof, with no inspection to establish which was actually needed.
What we check on a property in Nuneaton
Every quote starts with a survey. These are the things we look at on roofing work in Nuneaton, and why each one changes the recommendation.
Structural timber
Where we can see them, we check rafters, purlins and wall plates for rot, woodworm and deflection. A sagging roof line is a structural matter and needs resolving before any new covering goes on.
The loft, from the inside
Half the useful evidence is under the roof, not on it. Daylight through the covering, staining on rafters, tide marks on the underlay and damp insulation all tell us where water is getting in and how long it has been happening.
Verges and bargeboards
The gable edge takes the wind first. Loose verge mortar, exposed batten ends and soft bargeboards all let weather in at the very point where it is being driven hardest.
Solar panels and roof fittings
Panels, aerials, vents and old satellite brackets all penetrate or load the covering. We check the fixings and the weatherproofing around them, and plan how they come off and go back if the roof is being stripped.
Insulation depth and position
While we are in the loft we note the insulation. It affects condensation risk and ventilation requirements, and if the roof is coming off it is the obvious moment to put it right.
Moss and organic growth
We note how much there is and where. Heavy moss means water is being held against the tiles and gutters are probably taking the debris, and it also tends to mark the shaded, slowest-drying part of the roof.

Nuneaton is roughly 8.1 miles north of Coventry city centre. That is close enough that a survey can normally be arranged within a few days, and close enough that coming back afterwards is never a problem.
Do you work on properties near Asda?
Yes. Asda is one of the landmarks we use to describe where we work in Nuneaton, and we take on roofing jobs throughout the surrounding streets. Access and parking get checked at survey, so the quote fits the property.
EPDM, GRP or felt — which flat roof is best?
EPDM is a single rubber membrane with very few joints, flexible in cold weather and typically good for 25 to 30 years or more. GRP is a fibreglass laminate cured in place, giving a hard seamless finish with neat detailing, on a similar lifespan, though it is less forgiving of movement. Felt is the cheapest and the shortest-lived. The deck condition and how much movement it sees usually decide it.
What is roof flashing and why does it fail?
Flashing is the weatherproofing where the roof meets something else: a chimney, a wall, a valley, a soil pipe. It is usually lead, dressed and tucked into a mortar joint. It fails when the mortar holding it goes, when the lead splits from decades of thermal movement, or when someone has sealed over it with mastic instead of replacing it. Flashings are behind a large share of the leaks we trace.
The damp patch is in one place — is the hole directly above it?
Usually not. Water comes in at a defect then runs along the top of a batten, down a rafter or across the underlay until it finds somewhere to drop. The stain on the ceiling can be several metres from the entry point. This is why we look at the roof and the loft rather than working from the position of the stain, which is the single most common cause of a repair that does not fix anything.
What makes tiles slip?
Most often nail fatigue. The nails holding the tiles corrode over decades until they let go, and the tile slides. Rotten battens do the same thing. One slipped tile is a repair; a scatter of them across the whole roof usually means the fixings have reached the end of their life and patching will simply move the problem along.
How long should a roof last?
Natural slate can run 80 to 100 years or more. Clay tiles commonly reach 60 or beyond. Concrete interlocking tiles are usually good for 40 to 60. Fibre cement slates sit lower, around 30 to 50. But the covering rarely fails first — nails, battens, underlay, ridges and flashings all age faster, which is why a sound-looking roof can still need work.
