Garden Clearance in Coventry
An overgrown garden is mostly a question of what is underneath it. Clear it properly and you find out whether you have a lawn, a patio or a problem.

Garden clearance in Coventry covers cutting back and removing overgrowth, brambles and self-seeded growth, taking out old sheds, decking, fencing and rubble, and removing the waste. Waste is removed and disposed of through licensed channels and you should receive a waste transfer note - that paperwork is your duty of care as the property owner, not only the contractor's.
- Always ask for a waste transfer note. Fly-tipped waste traced back to your address is your problem too.
- What is under the overgrowth decides the next job - there is often a patio or a path nobody knew about.
- Japanese knotweed needs a specialist and a management plan, not a strimmer. Do not let anyone cut it.
- Check for nesting birds between roughly March and August before heavy cutting back - it is an offence to disturb them.
- Clearance is priced on volume and access, not garden size - how the waste gets out is the main cost.
The work itself, in plain terms
Overgrowth & brambles
Heavy cutting back, bramble and ivy removal, self-seeded saplings taken out and the ground left workable.
Structures removed
Old sheds, greenhouses, decking, failed fencing and concrete bases broken out and taken away.
Rubble & buried waste
The rubble, slabs and buried rubbish that older Coventry gardens routinely hide, dug out and removed.
Waste removal & paperwork
Everything removed and disposed of properly, with the waste transfer documentation you should insist on.
Ready for the next stage
Ground left levelled and clear, so paving, turf or planting can start without a second clearance.
Knowing when to stop
Knotweed, asbestos in old shed roofs and nesting birds all mean stopping and getting the right person. We will say so.
Built around how you own the property
Landlords & agents
Void properties cleared between tenancies, with photographs and waste paperwork for the file.
Probate & house sales
Gardens cleared before marketing or handover, often at short notice.
Homeowners
A garden taken back to a blank slate so you can see what you are actually working with.
The jobs that start with a phone call
- 01
A garden so overgrown that nobody knows whether there is a path, a patio or a pond under it.
- 02
An old shed with a cement-fibre roof that may contain asbestos and must not be broken up.
- 03
Japanese knotweed strimmed by a previous contractor, which spreads it rather than controlling it.
- 04
Rubble and old slabs buried under the topsoil, discovered when the new lawn goes down.
- 05
Waste taken away by a cash-in-hand clearance with no paperwork, later fly-tipped and traced back.
- 06
Heavy cutting back in May, with nesting birds in the hedge.

Speak to us today0786 5778332How is garden clearance priced?
On volume of waste and access, not on the size of the garden. A small garden with a deep bed of brambles and a concrete shed base generates more waste than a large tidy lawn. Access matters as much - if everything has to come through the house, that is the job. We will look before quoting.
What paperwork should I get?
A waste transfer note identifying the carrier and where the waste went. Under duty of care, if waste from your property is fly-tipped, you can be held responsible too, so it is worth insisting on - from us or from anybody else. Anyone removing waste commercially should be a registered waste carrier and able to show it.
I think I have Japanese knotweed. What now?
Do not cut it, strim it or dig it, and do not let anyone put it in a skip - all of those spread it and disposal is legally controlled. It needs identification and a specialist treatment or removal plan, often with a guarantee that mortgage lenders will accept. We will tell you if we think that is what you have, and we will stop.
Can you clear it in winter?
Winter is often the best time - growth has died back, the ground is visible and nesting birds are not an issue. Very wet ground can make machinery access difficult, so there is a trade-off, but we would rather work in January than cut a hedge full of nests in May.
What about the old shed roof?
Corrugated cement-fibre sheets on older sheds and garages may contain asbestos. They must not be broken, cut or dropped. We will identify it, leave it alone and tell you what the proper route is - which is a licensed removal, not a clearance crew with a hammer.
Will the ground be ready for turf or paving?
If that is what you want, say so when we quote - clearance to 'tidy' and clearance to 'ready for paving' are different amounts of work. The second involves getting the buried rubble and roots out and levelling, and it is far cheaper done once than done twice.
